Calcutta Fundraiser
Thirty-two of the best faced off. Across the tennis court. Power serve to power serve. Overhead smash against overhead smash. And one pair survived all opponents to win the tournament. And it was all for fun. And all for charity. For its thirteenth year on February 23, the Boulevard Club ran a charity tennis competition called Charity Calcutta. Each year, members of the club bet on the winning tennis team and also take part in an auction. Funds raised are donated to a different Parkdale charity each year. This year funds raised went to the Parkdale Neighbourhood (non-denominational) Church that feeds the mentally challenged and the homeless. Throughout the year, and just for members, the Boulevard Club provides extensive tennis facilities, swimming, boating, fully appointed change facilities, a fine cuisine restaurant, and a 200 seat summer patio on the shores of Lake Ontario.
